Outfits and Unlockables: Every Way to Get New Clothes

Customisation in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort runs through three separate systems, and confusing them is the most common reason players think an item is missing. Each system has its own source, its own rules, and its own part of the wardrobe.

Route one: the Item Center

The Item Center takes 1,000 Spocco Points per random draw from a rotating catalogue of two weekly collections plus a monthly themed set. It is the widest source of clothing, headwear and accessories, and the only source that is entirely random.

Because the stock is randomised per player, the efficient habit is to bank points and spend in bursts when the live collections suit you. See the Item Center guide.

Route two: per-sport achievements

Every competitive sport has five achievements. Completing them unlocks cosmetics tied to that sport, plus player tag editing options. These are deterministic: the same achievement always gives the same reward, for everyone.

How to see them: on the home screen, select a sport and press X. If you are playing with a single left Joy-Con, press the D-pad up instead. The achievement list for that sport appears, with progress.

This is the route that rewards playing a sport properly rather than grinding currency, and the rewards are among the most distinctive in the game because they are themed to the sport that earned them.

Route three: collectible sets

The leisure sports hide two kinds of collectible across Wuhu Island:

  • Spocco Photos, scattered across the island and the leisure routes.
  • Hibiscus Flowers, hidden in the same open world.

Completing these sets unlocks exclusive clothing that appears in neither the Item Center nor the achievement lists. This is the smallest route in raw item count and the one most players miss entirely, because nothing in the main loop points at it.

See the Spocco Photos and Hibiscus Flowers guides.

Where you change clothes

Customisation lives behind the hangar-shaped Customise icon along the bottom of the home screen. It has three tabs:

  • Outfits & Accessories — the clothing side. This is where everything above lands.
  • Appearance — face, hair and features.
  • Body — build and proportions.

The tab split matters: an item you have unlocked will not appear under Appearance, and a hairstyle will not appear under Outfits. If something seems to be missing, check the other tabs before assuming it did not unlock.

Saved outfits

You can store multiple complete outfits and switch between them rather than rebuilding a look item by item. For a game built around short sessions and quick switches between sports, that is the feature that makes customisation practical: build a look per sport, then swap on the way in.

Which route to prioritise

  • Want volume fast: Item Center, funded by online thumb wrestling.
  • Want specific looks: achievements, because the reward is known in advance.
  • Want the rarest pieces: collectible sets, because they cannot be bought at all.

The three routes do not overlap much. A complete wardrobe needs all of them, which is why the wardrobe is a long project rather than a grind with an end date.
